Jersey Airport begins major redevelopment with passenger experience improvements
Jersey Airport has started a series of infrastructure and passenger experience improvements as part of a broader redevelopment programme aimed at modernising facilities. The work is being delivered by Ports of Jersey, the organisation responsible for operating the airport.

The redevelopment’s most visible element is the transformation of the airport’s departure lounge, which was first announced in mid‑2025. Ports of Jersey said the existing space, originally opened in 1997, will be redesigned to offer a more comfortable and welcoming environment that reflects the island’s unique character and natural landscape, with expanded dining and retail options, dedicated quiet and family zones and views over the runway.
Ports of Jersey appointed locally based ROK Construction as the principal contractor for the initial phase of the departure lounge redevelopment in July 2025. The aim is for the first phase to open by summer 2026, with the full new departure lounge completed by summer 2027.
Other elements linked to broader airport improvements include proposals to improve public access around the site by connecting existing footpaths and applying for permission to remove unused buildings to open space for future infrastructure upgrades. These changes are intended to support safe pedestrian movement and free up land for longer‑term project elements.
Ports of Jersey says the goal of the redevelopment is creating a space that feels distinctly Jersey while accommodating growing needs for comfort, accessibility and service quality.
