Simon Edsforth
Airspace Efficiency Manager, NATS
Simon graduated in Mathematics and Physics from Durham University in 2005. He joined NATS in 2006 as an Air Traffic Control Officer, completing his training in 2008. Simon has accumulated 19 years in Air Traffic Control Operations, during such time he played a pivotal role in managing disruption and incident response, contributing to the resolution of several high-profile events and leading an operational team of controllers in the Centres. He has also led national initiatives to enhance resilience and planning, influencing UK policy at the highest levels.
In November 2024, Simon was appointed Airspace Efficiency Manager; driving strategic change, developing policy, and championing environmental performance across UK airspace. He brings a bold, data-driven approach focused on emissions reduction and progress toward net-zero. Simon brings a unique operational perspective, particularly in managing constrained environments and competing priorities, to challenge convention and deliver meaningful improvement.
