Liverpool John Lennon Airport appoints Clive Condie as new chair

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has appointed Clive Condie as its new chair, succeeding Robert Hough, who had served as chair since 2014. The appointment comes as Liverpool Airport enters a new phase under majority ownership by infrastructure investment manager Ancala and amid continued growth in passenger numbers and airline activity.

Condie brings experience across aviation, infrastructure and logistics sectors through a range of executive, non-executive and chair roles. His previous positions have included serving as chairman of London Luton Airport, alongside leadership and advisory roles involving airport and transport infrastructure businesses in the UK and internationally.

Liverpool Airport said his appointment would support the airport's long-term ambitions around growth and commercial development. Tim Power, partner at Ancala, said Condie would build on the work undertaken by the previous chair as the airport seeks to expand both aviation and commercial services. Chief Executive John Irving also said Condie's experience would support the airport's next stage of development.

The appointment comes during a period of expansion at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The airport handled more than 5.6m passengers during 2025, its busiest year on record, supported by continued airline growth and investment in passenger facilities. Recent developments have included expanded route programmes and investment in infrastructure and decarbonisation initiatives, including a new on-site solar installation intended to support the airport's longer-term environmental objectives.

Liverpool Airport has continued to position itself as one of the UK's growing regional gateways, with recent airline announcements increasing capacity and route options across Europe. Airport operators have said future priorities will include improving connectivity, passenger experience and strengthening the airport's economic contribution across the Liverpool City Region and wider North West.
