London City Airport appoints AGS’ Andy Cliffe as chief executive
London City Airport has appointed Andy Cliffe as its new chief executive officer, replacing Alison FitzGerald following a handover period.

Cliffe takes up the role as the east London airport prepares for a period of expansion and investment. The airport recently secured UK government approval to increase its annual passenger capacity from 6.5m to 9m and is also seeking regulatory approval to introduce the Airbus A320neo aircraft.
Cliffe brings experience from senior positions in the aviation sector, including roles at Manchester Airports Group and most recently as group chief executive of AGS Airports, which operates airports including Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton.
He is also an operating partner at Macquarie Asset Management and previously supported the firm’s acquisition of a stake in London City Airport in 2025 before joining the airport’s board as a non-executive director.
FitzGerald, who has led the airport for more than a decade, and during her tenure the airport pursued operational improvements and secured approval for increased passenger capacity.
