Mott MacDonald has joined MAG’s Capital Investment Consultancy Services Framework, through which it will provide advisory, design and specialist technical services for infrastructure projects at Manchester Airport, London Stansted Airport and East Midlands Airport over the next five years.

MAG is entering a period of significant capital development intended to modernise infrastructure, expand operational capacity and improve resilience across its estate. The group’s airports handled more than 54m passengers last year and play a key role in regional connectivity and international transport links.

Under the framework appointment, Mott MacDonald will provide project services in partnership with CPC Project Services, alongside early-stage architectural design and fire engineering consultancy. The combined services are intended to support planning and delivery of major airport infrastructure schemes.

The consultancy has previously worked with MAG on several projects, including transformation planning and design work at Stansted Airport, electrical substation upgrades at Manchester and East Midlands airports, and the development of a cargo masterplan for East Midlands Airport.

MAG said the investment programmes are also intended to support the group’s environmental targets, including an ambition to achieve net-zero carbon operations by 2038 while maintaining capacity and service improvements for airlines, passengers and freight operators.

The framework appointment forms part of a wider programme of infrastructure investment across MAG’s airport network, which aims to support long-term growth in passenger and cargo traffic while maintaining operational safety and efficiency.
