Dowds brings more than 20 years of international aviation experience, including senior roles at Deloitte and airport operator BAA. His background includes major airport programmes, infrastructure development and long-term aviation growth strategies.

In his new role, Dowds will lead the consultancy’s aviation business across the region, focusing on client relationships, business development and the delivery of major airport programmes. His responsibilities will span strategic planning, infrastructure design and delivery, and operational transformation.

Dowds said the consultancy’s integrated approach and experience of complex airport programmes would support clients in planning and delivering future infrastructure.

Richard Cusworth, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for aviation, maritime and offshore, UK & Europe said, "This is an exciting time for our aviation business as airports across the UK and Europe invest to meet growing demand, decarbonise operations and deliver better experiences for passengers. Michael brings a wealth of aviation leadership experience and deep industry understanding, which will be invaluable for both us and our clients as we support them to realise the airports of tomorrow."
